How did Greatfield Community Market get started, and what is it all about?
Run by a small committee of volunteers from the Greatfield Residents association, the first market was held in Sept 2015, run by residents, for residents. It has been running quarterly ever since, selling plants, cakes, crafts, vinyl and vintage-wares in East Ham. We now have up to 26 stalls at any market, and in the summer we sometimes have stalls outside!
The Greatfield Community Market is all about building neighbourhood ties, and encouraging people to support each other, shopping locally and celebrating the wonderful, talented and diverse make up of East Ham residents.
When and where is the next Market?
We hold 4 markets a year, so roughly once per quarter. Check out our facebook page for all of our up and coming events.
The Market is held at St George & St Ethelbert Church Hall, Burford Road, East Ham, London E6 3NN.
Maker or Baker? Would you like to be a stall holder?
If you are interested in having a stall at our market, you will need to meet the following criteria:-
- Live in East London;
- Hold a valid food hygiene certificate Level 2 if selling food or drink;
- Hold public liability insurance if you are offering a treatment or selling skin care products;
- Sell products that are made, grown, produced or sourced locally.
We ask for a contribution of £10 per stall, payable by bank transfer or cheque when the stalls have been allocated. This is to help offset the cost of hall hire.
